VisionCrafting -- The Power of Mission Focus

Know Thyself

Too often in life, we find ourselves so caught up in busy-ness that we live at a remove from our own depths – our inner wisdom, our core values, our sense of innate worth and human dignity, our profound knowledge of love and compassion. We act without reference to our own life goals or higher intentions. We find ourselves “just trying to get through the day.”

The Foundation Stone

But even in hard times, when life has given us a lot to handle, living, moving and acting from our deeper sense of self – from that place where our values and our aspirations emerge – can help us thrive, not merely survive. It can open up otherwise hidden paths of opportunity to create change, and bless the world…even when we are at our busiest.

The Core Values Exercise

For those committed to making the world a better place, the journey begins within yourself. Take the time to consider your most deeply held values – the values by which you live your life. By knowing and reflecting often on your core values, you set the arc of your life’s story and make progress toward your destination: a better world.   Download .pdf of Core Values Exercise HERE

Your Vision...

Some people make a real difference in the world. Other people want to make a difference, never quite get there. What’s the difference? Is it talent? Luck? Friends in high places? Any of those things can help, but the truth is, most people lack vision. Vision isn’t something magical that happens to you. It is accessible to anyone who cares deeply about the world, and is willing to put in some work to hone and shape their ideas in a vision. In other words: engage in some VisionCrafting.

...Becomes Your Mission.

When it comes to change, you need to be able to communicate your vision clearly – and direct action, your own and (hopefully) that of others who join you.

A clear vision demands a mission statement. Your life calls for a mission statement. In 25 words or less, can you tell the world what you’re about? Just click the button below and find out!

Revisit & Revise to Revive

Nature loves a spiral. Repeating and expanding fractal patterns and spirals can be found in every part of life on Earth – and beyond. We should think of our work in the same way — a spiral that continuously circles back, repeating the beautiful elements and expanding. Anything we do may grow stale over time, become inflexible or fail to keep up with inevitable changes. If you craft your work with the expectation that it will continue to unfurl in a spiral pattern, you begin with the understanding that it will never be static: it will always be somewhere in a process of reflection, learning, adapting, and growing. In other words, plan now to revisit and revise your work often — which will revive it!
