Where credit is due...
I (Audette) have been a minister for over 20 years, which means I have spent many long hours loving and working to support and nurture people through some of their most difficult days – and some of their best. More recently, I have spent the last few years doing research on how to help people create change. I didn’t intend to do that during a global pandemic, or during one of the most significant racial reckonings that our country (the U.S.) has ever faced. But that is the essential nature of life: things are always changing, and we never know what tomorrow will bring. Therefore, we need to be able to be resilient and able to steer through any wind in the direction of our highest goals, guided by our deepest values.
While my own work is introduced on this website in its own array, as a minister, teacher, and learner, few people have guided and inspired me more than Brene Brown.
It is therefore a special joy to be able to craft a course that responds to the very real needs of the people I serve, adding the profoundly transformational work of Dr. Brown and her colleagues while also being able to make deep connections to my own work. But it must be made clear that the title of this course and much of my own inspiration derives directly from Brown’s work. We all build on the genius of others, and gratitude is my own orientation.
